Are bed bugs in hotels a problem these days? People usually prefer checking into hotels during their vacation in a different country or even just a different city or state. Hotels offer package deals wherein one does not only have the chance to sleep on their luxurious and comfortable beds but also enjoy a sumptuous breakfast in the morning. Well, imagine life with all these comforts until one morning you noticed some reddening in your skin and some blisters around a mysterious bite on your arms.
You've heard sometime in one of your travels about the legendary bed bugs in hotels wherein some blood-sucking insects infested in beds attack their guests. Perhaps the stories are no longer stories anymore but they're for real.
If bed bugs could live in simple and ordinary beds in our homes, there is no reason they could live in hotels too. Though they may not survive hot or extreme temperatures, they definitely could enjoy the same fully air-conditioned queen-sized bedroom too.
Just like in our home, bed bug in hotels hide in the mattresses, carpets, peeling paint, wallpapers, crevices in wooden furniture and other areas that we may not give too much attention in cleaning. Though many hotels change their mattresses and perform general cleaning of their rooms, there are also times that they miss cleaning or sanitizing certain parts of the room of which the bed bugs would take advantage of.
Since most pesticides are designed to kill particular species only like those lesser harmful cockroaches, bed bugs could easily survive and reappear.
How do we completely get rid of bed bug in hotels then? Make sure that the hotels perform a daily check up and cleaning of their rooms and change the blankets, carpets, mattresses because these items are the most common hiding place for bed bugs. These are just some of the tips on how to avoid a bed bug-infested hotel room.
